Atlantic Council er 3.7. (kl 8 EST/14 Norge) vertskap for en diskusjon med Finlands president Alexander Stubb om europeisk sikkerhetspolitikk og Finlands rolle i NATO.

On Thursday July 3 the Atlantic Council will host a virtual conversation featuring Finnish President Alexander Stubb on Finland’s role in Europe’s security.

Allies concluded the NATO Summit in The Hague on June 25, at one of the most consequential moments for European security in a generation. In the face of Russia’s enduring war in Ukraine and growing uncertainty over the United States’ role in Europe, allies pledged immense increases in national defense spending to reach 5 percent of GDP over the coming decade. These moves come amid calls for Europe to take greater ownership of its own security and its support for Ukraine. One of the NATO alliance’s newest members, Finland, has immediately stepped forward to play a leading role in European defense and security and in supporting Ukraine’s brave fight for its freedom.

In conversation with Atlantic Council President and CEO Frederick Kempe, Stubb will discuss Finland’s role as a frontline NATO ally at the vanguard of European security. He will also discuss how Finland, Europe, and the transatlantic alliance must adapt to meet the moment to ensure Europe’s defense for the long term.
